Kybella™ is a prescription medication used for both men and women to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also known as “double chin”.
What is Kybella™?
Kybella™ is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of a “double chin” due to submental or excess chin fat. The active ingredient in Kybella™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. After treatment with Kybella™, the fat cells are permanently destroyed and those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Kybella Frequently Asked Questions
Both men and women who are concerned with submental fat or a “double chin”. Before receiving Kybella™, tell your Original Skin Medspa provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you: have had or plan to have plastic surgery on your face, neck, or chin; have had or have a medical condition in or near the neck area; have had trouble swallowing; have bleeding problems; are pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breastfeeding.
Patients with a moderate degree of submental fat will require approximately 2 treatments spread six to eight weeks apart. Patients with a larger “double chin” may require 3-4 treatments to achieved the desired results. A consultation will help us best determine the number of treatments you will require.
