The Profound RF Microneedling procedure uses radiofrequency energy, delivered through finely coated needles, to the deepest layers of the dermas to effectively treat and remodel adipose tissue (fat) and septae (cellulite). Cellulite is a notoriously difficult problem to control, resulting in an uneven, lumpy appearance in the thighs and buttocks. Cellulite involves both excessive fatty tissue under the skin and fibrous bands tethering the skin to underlying tissues. This results in the characteristic lumpy appearance. To treat cellulite we must both eliminate the fatty tufts and allow the skin to adhere evenly to the underlying tissues. Profound uses radiofrequency energy to eliminate fat and create adherence, preventing recurrence of the fat tufts and providing long-lasting results from a single treatment.
Some treatments reduce cellulite by cutting fibrous bands around subcutaneous fat to smooth the skin’s appearance. In comparison, Profound Microneedling with radiofrequency energy creates new and stronger fibrous bands that are more similar to those that are found in men. Specifically, Profound’s needles can penetrate six mm into cellulite and are able to apply radiofrequency to subcutaneous fat. This thermal damage increases collagen and builds more powerful bands in the treatment area.
A Profound RF Microneeding treatment takes about an hour to administer, depending on the size of the area being treated. Patients can expect to return to their normal daily routine immediately but can expect swelling, bruising and tenderness in the treated area for 5-7 days.
If you are pregnant you should not have this treatment. In addition, anyone with a history of poor skin healing or with a pacemaker or defibrillator should not have this procedure.
